Interview with James Kennedy, Author

I produce Conversations at Creatives at Rochester Community TV (RCTV). Each summer, RCTV collaborates with Writers & Books on a summer camp. Beginning two summers ago, the kids at the camp began creating submissions for the 90-Second Newbery Awards founded by author James Kennedy. The kids loved James’ concept of taking a Newbery award or honor book and collapsing it to a 90-second video.

Right before the NYC screening of the awards that year, James swung by Rochester to speak at several schools and host an evening screening of the five submissions created by Rochester-based youth that year.

As you can see from the interview, James is a riot! He is the author of the book, The Order of Odd-Fish and is currently working on several other books, soon to be published. During his interview, he talks about The Order of Odd-Fish and being an author during the 21st Century.  I am co-hosted on this first episode of Conversations with Creatives by Debra Ross, owner of KidsOutandAbout.com.
